With the continuous promotion of the rural revitalization strategy，rural homestay has become a key grasping hand for improving rural tourism experience，improving rural living environment，promoting rural industrial integration and boosting rural economic income. The development of rural B&Bs is not limited to the suburbs of cities. Traditional farms，forest farms and even remote mountain areas are actively trying to take advantage of the situation. However，in the actual operation process，the living conditions of many rural B&Bs is not ideal. With the rapid development of rural B&Bs everywhere，there is a huge and profound crisis of operation and management Based on the field visits and field investigations of homestays in Anhui，Henan，Hebei，Shanxi，Shaanxi and other places in China，and combined with the research results of over 100 academic journal articles and over 30 doctoral/master’s degree dissertations with the keywords of “rural homestays” and “rural tourism” in 2020～2021，this paper conducts literature research and summary analysis. This paper sorted out the typical common problems in rural homestay operation in mainland China，sorted out the relationship between rural revitalization，rural tourism and rural homestay，constructed the evaluation index system of rural tourism maturity，and put forward the supporting factor model of rural tourism and rural B&B operation，which provided a constructive path for the healthy development of rural tourism and rural homestay.
