In 2017，the society in general undergoes smooth development in Beijing，with considerable gains achieved in public service and social governance. Given the large population base，the complex social environment，and the different development level and varied functional orientation among different districts，some social problems concentrating in certain realms are yet to be solved. In the area of social development，the problem of uneven development remains，especially the uneven development among different social groups. In the area of social construction，education attracts more social attention，as the resource of preschool education and its distribution are yet to be optimized. In the area of social service，more efforts are required for construction of relevant themes，and the elder-care problem poses a great challenge. In the area of social governance，problems in terms of the system and the mechanism need solutions，and the party building on the grass-root level is expected to play a far more important role herein.
