In the life of young people，inequality and the social class are still real issues，and the social class is still a key factor in understanding the life of young people，so that young people's subcultural styles and identities are closely boundup with social class，it can be said that subcultural affiliation is in large part an expression of class identity. Through interviews with young people in Edinburgh and Newcastle，we found that young people within each subculture group tend to have similar class status，and their socio-economic positions directly affect and limit their subculture choice，so we can say that rather than being a free-floating lifestyle choice，young people's membership of subcultural groupings is largely determined by social class.
