“法者,天下之公器。”法科学生毕业后,将从事与法律有关的工作,事关社会公平之实现,必须德才兼备。其在校阶段所阅读、所思考、所践行、所操作的内容,都应服务于该教育目标,即保障其未来成为一个内有仁德、外具才干的卓越法律人。因此法学教育不能仅限于知识传授和技能训练,而应将人文精神培养和仁德之信念培育作为重中之重。有法律知识和技能而仁德不足,将有害于法治社会之建设。博雅教育借鉴古今中外培养健全人格之方法和经验,通过人文经典的系统阅读和援助社会弱者的公益服务,使法科学生能够在进入职业领域之前,充分思考安身立命之基、法律职业之眼、人生重大抉择之秤,使自己既具有人文精神又具有卓越技能,从而在未来法律职业生涯中稳如磐石。
<<“Law is an important tool for realizing national fairness.” After graduation,law students will be engaged in works relate to law,which concerns the realization of social justice. Therefore they must have both noble character and outstanding skills,which should be the ultimate goal of all the effort they make during school life,including reading,thinking and practicing. In other words,students should be cultivated to be an outstanding legal person with both virtue and talent in the future,and that is the reason why legal education should not be limited to knowledge imparting and skill training,but also focus on cultivating humanistic spirit and faith in virtue. The lack of good character,though with good legal knowledge and skills,will be harmful to the construction of the rule of law of our society. Liberal arts education draws experiences on cultivating healthy character from ancient and modern times,home and abroad,by systematically reading humanistic classics and providing legal aid for the weak,liberal arts education makes law student think seriously about the foundation of their life and life-long pursuit,the eye of legal profession and the standard of making life’s big choices before entering legal careers and makes them have both humanistic spirit and excellent skills,which stands as a steady rock in their legal career.
