Under the background of the increasingly mature domestic free trade zone construction，taking the approval of Henan Free Trade Zone as an opportunity for regional development，the problems existing in the development of Central Plains urban agglomeration at current stage were summarized，based on the theory of path breaking，this paper analyzed the opportunities and challenges brought by the construction of Henan Free Trade Zone to the development of Central Plains urban gglomeration，and put forward proposals for the future development of Central Plains Urban Agglomeration：（1）Cultivate characteristic industries and igorously develop export-oriented economy；（2）Build regional industrial clusters and promote industrial upgrading；（3） Implement innovation-driven development and optimize personnel training；（4） Play the leading role of the core city and construct city groups；（5） Improve regional road traffic construction and realize interconnection.
