As a modern metropolis，Beijing is realizing a profound transformation from agglomeration of resources to growth to relief functions and development. It is now at the key node from urban development to capital development. A large number of old industrial plants were able to retreat. These old factories are an important memory of urban culture. This report reviews the overall context of Beijing’s industrial development，sorts out the resources of old industrial plants available for use，and presents typical cases and problems in transformation and upgrading，and proposes solutions and lessons for reference. The publication of the “Guiding Opinion on Protecting the Use of Old Factory Buildings to Expand Cultural Space” by the Beijing government provided strong support.
