<<Secondary hazards induced by 5·12 Wenchuan earthquake destroyed vegetation seriously, and have triggered a series of ecological and environmental issues. After the disaster, the community has been actively involved in the vegetation recovery in the damaged areas. However, the quantitative evaluation of natural recovery and restoration in the damaged areas by 5·12 Wenchuan earthquake is still rare. In this paper,a meta-analysis method has been used to quantitatively evaluate the vegetation recovery in the damaged areas by 5·12 Wenchuan earthquake. The results showed that:(1)compared with the undamaged vegetation, the Simpson dominance index and Shannon-Wiener diversity index in quake-hit areas by natural recovery or restoration are significantly lower.(2)Compared with the natural recovery in quake-hit areas, species richness, shrub species richness, the shrub Simpson dominance index and the shrub Pielou evenness index in quake-hit areas by restoration are significantly higher, but grass species richness, the grass Simpson dominance index and the grass Pielou evenness index in quake-hit areas by restoration are significantly lower.(3)With time going by,the Simpson dominance index,Shannon-Wiener diversity index and the Pielou evenness index step up gradually in landslide areas of Wenchuan earthquake by restoration. Accordingly, based on the plant community composition, the physical and chemical characteristics of soil,to select suitable shrub species and assist herbaceous plants will be the appropriate vegetation recovery measure in quake-hit areas.
