本文通过分析两个独立的田野研究材料,研究医院和学校中的制度化择优。在两个制度中,高考备考和孕妇生产两个特殊的时间段,对量化工具格外依赖。在中国优生优育和素质教育的政策背景下,制度中的专家对量化工具的不同使用方式和阐释方式影响着政策落实和制度文化的形成。而制度文化反过来对量化工具的效力起着限制作用。量化评价产生的数字经过阐释,将个体的特点客体化,而这一过程产生的意义影响着制度参与者的行动。
<<Drawing on data from two separate ethnographic works,this paper focuses on the institutionalized selection in hospitals and schools. The preparation of the National College Entrance Examination(NCEE)and the pregnancy and parturition are both crucial periods for individuals. Under the eugenic policy and the education for qualities policy,the usage of quantifying instruments and their way of interpretation of numbers in different institutional settings exert influences on the implementation of policies and the production of institutional cultures. In return,the institutional environments limit the power of quantifying instruments,by shaping contextualized interpretation of numbers and their meanings that influence individuals’ action.
