As big data applications are getting deeper and deeper，big data standardization is now covering a broader range of objects and a more complex variety of contents. The lack of related standards harms industry development in multiple aspects，including serious impact on mutual fusion and interconnection of data，formation of information islands，reduction of data utilization rate and weakening of data values，thereby hindering industry development. According to the general requirements for the development of the big data standard system specified by the “Outline of Big Data Development Action”，this report will discuss the composition and application areas of the big data standard system and research the practices of typical regions in developing the standard system to propel the faster establishment of the Chinese standard system for big data and drive the development of the big data industry in order.
