<<In recent years,“idol”becomes an important phenomenon in entertainment industry under the influence of Japanese culture. The concept of“Idol”has two meanings:On one hand,“idols”are closer to people than“stars”,because they come from ordinary people. On the other hand, imperfect“idols”can achieve their dreams and become“stars”by determined efforts, which is an inspiring story. However,“idol”is not the antonym of“star”,but a product that make full use of the mechanism of the latter. And the alleged“effort”and“dream”of“idol”are merely some rhetoric invention in order to make better profits. The prosperity of“idol”is not a symbol of a democratic society, but a typical case in the consumer society, and it also indicates the decline of the myth of individual struggle.
