It is an important strategic goal to realize the development of traditional Chinese medicine to excavate the scientific connotation of traditional Chinese medicine through scientific and technological innovation and to promote the modernization of traditional Chinese medicine. Since the “12th Five-Year” Plan period，China has made creative achievements in the field of health science and technology of traditional Chinese medicine，especially in the field of modernization of traditional Chinese medicine. The ability of traditional Chinese medicine to prevent and treat major diseases is constantly improving，and researcher Tu Youyou had won the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for the discovery of artemisinin，accelerating the process of internationalization of traditional Chinese medicine. As one of the key projects of the national key R & D program，the research on the modernization of traditional Chinese medicine（TCM）focuses on the three major areas of TCM，namely，“treating diseases before illness”，preventing and treating major diseases with Chinese medicine，and developing and controlling quality of traditional Chinese medicine. With the introduction of multidisciplinary knowledge and modern science and technology，it provides a strong technical support for the development of traditional Chinese medicine. Traditional Chinese medicine physique and sub-health research are making new progress. The Chinese medicine health index report，from the Chinese medicine angle，has carried on the investigation and the research to the whole people’s Chinese medicine health condition and its influence factor，has promoted the traditional Chinese medicine profession and big data’s analysis connection，has provided the new thought for the traditional Chinese medicine modernization.
