Since the establishment of Chinese Society of Health Management in July 2007，China’s health management theory research and discipline construction are increasing vigorously，and great achievements have been achieved in all aspects. It coincides with the enactment of “Health China 2030” program and indicates the dawn of a new era. In this transitional period，this report made the review and prospect about the development of theory and research work of health management in China in the past decade. It analyzed the definition of the connotation of health management，the features of innovation theory at different stages，the innovation point of health management theory，and the impact on national policy planning from several aspects. Although it started fairly late，the research on the theory of health management in China has gone through a completely different way compared with the foreign ones. Because the leaders of health management in China pay much attention to the related basic theory research，it gradually formed a Chinese characteristic health management theoretical system and knowledge system，especially in the aspects of health management concept，discipline system expression and practice category. However，as a new discipline，the theoretical system construction of health management is still at the stage of pre-discipline，and there is still a big gap between it and the mainstream disciplines. In order to promote the sustainable and in-depth study on the innovation theory of health management，it should further unify the theory，connotation and category of health management；strengthen industry standards and standardization；further clarify the boundary about the connotation and practice of health management of chronic disease；further investigate on the innovation theory system of primordial prevention and “Preventive Treatment of Disease” of TCM；and further investigate on the new formats，the new normal，the new models and the new path.
