Based on the theoretical discourses of the classic western Marxist writers，such as Marx and Engels，along with the fundamental values rooted in Chinese traditional culture，this paper tries to hackle the etymological root，to differentiate the contents of the state level of The Core Socialist Values，which are Prosperity，Democracy，Civility and Harmony.Furthermore，this paper analyzes the historical evolution of these concepts throughout Chinese culture tradition，and their value connotation that should be embodied in the process of constructing The Core Socialist Values.
