The “Different Sentencing for Identical Cases Alert Platform” was established by the Judicial Big Data Research Base of the Supreme People's Court by relying on the big data of court judgments in the whole country and in accordance with the basic steps of “linkage map construction → circumstance deconstruction → weight sequencing → identification of similar cases → model training → sentencing prediction → deviation alert” for the purpose unifying sentencing criteria. The platform integrates the following five functional modules：recommendation of similar cases，pushing of legal knowledge，intelligent assistance in sentencing，intelligent correction of errors in written documents，and warming about deviation in sentencing. It provides judges with not only intelligent assistance in their trial of cases，but also precise references for the management of case-handling quality. The development and application of the alert platform has promoted the unification of sentencing criteria through silenced management of case-handling quality while at the same time safeguarding the independent trial of cases by judges in accordance with law，thereby providing a solid safeguard for the modernization of the trial system and trial capacity of Chinese courts.
