As an important strategic base for energy resources in China，rresource-based cities have an extraordinary significance for the sustained and stable development of the national economy. Promoting sustainable development of resource-based cities is of great significance for safeguarding national energy and resources security，promoting new industrialization and new urbanization，building resource saving and environment-friendly society. In the fifth Plenary Session of the 18th CPC Central Committee，the party put forward five development concepts of “innovation，coordination，greenness，openness and sharing”，the State strengthened the construction of ecological civilization，and Sichuan constructed a comprehensive innovation and reform pilot area，which provided a rare opportunity for the sustainable development of Resource-based Cities in Sichuan province. This paper analyzes the development status and problems of resource-based cities in Sichuan Province，and puts forward a series of suggestions.
