With China becoming a permanent observer of the Arctic Council，it may experience great changes in its role in Arctic affairs. As one of the Arctic Council’s founding nations，Canada is an influential Arctic country whose experiences may help China adapt to its new position. This article began by discussing the goals and contents of Canada’s recent Arctic foreign policy，and then move on to analyze the strategic considerations behind such a policy，as well as what China may have to learn from Canada’s experiences.
