With the development of library science and the updating of the current magazines，the library collection has been continuously expanded and perfected.However，with the gradually increasing of library collections，outdated publications also piles up，which caused a lot of pressure for the library.There are a lot of waste in the use of these back issues because most of them are stored rather than used .This paper analyzes the necessity of the use of back issues，and takes Yucheng city library in Shandong province as an example to analyze the problems existing in the use and management of back issues in our country，and introduces the new ideas for the management of back issues in Yucheng library，thus providing reference solution to the effective use of library back issue resources.
