This paper summarizes the concept of extracurricular education as well as the status of the development and functional orientation of the extracurricular education in China，and raises the point that children’s participation demonstrates the unique value of extracurricular education. The paper also summarizes the strategic experience of children’s participation from four aspects：teaching content，teaching methods，teaching process and teaching environment. China National Children’s Center is introduced and analyzed as a case study of the aforementioned viewpoints，and suggestions are put forward to promote children’s participation in extracurricular education.
