<<Culture is seen as an essential component that fosters conditions that are favorable for economic prosperity as it reunites living conditions that are preferred by agents of economic innovation.This paper documents the role played by the State and museum policy in sustaining cultural innovation.Building on the historical development of museums in Canada，this paper will focus on the development of policy instruments to support of innovation in the museum sector.This paper also emphasizes the role of the State in fostering the ecosystemic conditions for museum development in Canada.Finally，this paper studies the evolution of the sector by insisting on the development of policy instruments that cut across the different museums and disciplines （fine arts，history，ethnography，and nature）.
