As the largest town in the east of Sichuan province and the sub-center of Xuanhan County, Nanba Town has constantly enhanced its own comprehensive strength. It has been listed among the first batch of Chinese Characteristic Small Towns by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development. It is a rare opportunity in the development history of Nanba Town. In combination with its own conditions, Nanba Town has adopted the development path for characteristic towns which feature commerce, trade and logistics, integration of industries and urban areas, prosperous culture and education, and green and livable environment. During the construction of the characteristic small town, Nanba Town is faced with such problems as overly dense urban population, lack of advantages in the major industries, slow progress of old urban areas, lack of financing channels, insufficient supply of land and lack of vitality of public management. Through the in-depth and multi-angled analysis of such problems, the research groupprovided the suggestions on the construction of new commerce and trade facilities, upgrading and transformation of old urban areas, cultivation of featured industrial clusters, creation of financing channels, expansion of land supply, and promotion of the reform as to expansion of rights and strengthening of the town.
