The four dimensions that urban-rural economic coordination，urban-rural social coordination，urban-rural ecological coordination and urban-rural spatial coordination construct the index of coordinated development of urban-rural urban agglomerations in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River. According to comprehensive calculation and comparative analysis，some conclusions are as follow：（1）The process of synergistic development both urban and rural areas in the urban agglomeration of the middle reaches of the Yangtze River in 2006-2015 is steadily advancing. The synergistic development between urban and rural areas in Wuhan urban agglomeration and Central Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan urban agglomeration is relatively rapid，but the Poyang Lake urban agglomeration is relatively lagging.（2）The development of urban-rural social and ecological Synergy is relatively lagging in Wuhan urban agglomeration；the urban-rural economic synergetic development level of the urban agglomeration in Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan urban agglomeration is low and the social development in the urban and rural areas is the slowest；residents income is a gap between the urban and rural in the Poyang Lake urban agglomeration，besides transportation logistics and communications development here is not coordinated.（3）Wuhan urban agglomeration should deepen the reform of ecological and environmental supervision system in urban and rural areas and bringing into play the advantages of science and education to improving the educational and cultural services of surrounding cities；the Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan City Cluster will encourage urban-rural innovation and entrepreneurship and promulgating assistance policies about education and health；the Poyang Lake urban agglomeration focus on strengthening the division of labor in all fields and continuously improving the transport system.
