Government always plays a key role in protecting environment，while the residents benefit from environmental protection. Therefore，their satisfaction on the government’s environmental protection work is an important indicator of the quality and performance of government environmental protection. Traditional method mainly uses questionnaires to conduct the evaluation，by using both questionnaire and social media data，this paper conducts a survey on residents’ satisfaction with government environmental protection in Beijing. The results indicate that the overall satisfaction was 3.06 in 2016，among which the air environment satisfaction score was the lowest and the ecological environment satisfaction score was the highest. The analysis on social media show that from 2010 to 2016，Beijing residents’ opinion on the government’s overall environmental protection work were positive. We found that the combination of questionnaire and social media data to investigate residents’ satisfaction is an effective method to comprehensively evaluate the performance of government environmental protection work.
