Gelao is one of the ethnic minorities with a long history and culture in the southwest China. Gelao Nationality is an important part of the intangible cultural heritage of ethnic minorities in our country. In the long history and development process，they created a brilliant national culture，leaving a lot of precious intangible cultural heritage. However，with the development of modernization and urbanization，the Gelao intangible cultural heritage has been severely challenged. Therefore，the inheritance and protection of the Gelao’s intangible cultural heritage has important historical significance and practical significance. This paper analyzes the present situation of the intangible cultural heritage project and the inheritance of the Gelao，discusses the status，characteristics and shortcomings of the cultural and cultural heritage of the Gelao in connection with the relevant laws and regulations and related academic research on the inheritance and protection of the intangible cultural heritage of the Gelao nationality and puts forward the corresponding opinions and suggestions.
