China has started to witness the fast development of the system of social services for the elderly. At present，the three major approaches for elderly care are home-based elderly care，institutional elderly care and community elderly care. This essay takes Wangjing community as the study subject since it’s a government-planned super large community with both local Beijing people and migrant residents. The community elderly care service in Wangjing community is relatively mature as the elderly care service ecological chain with both demand and supply has taken shape with care providers like institutions for the aged and neighborhood committee. After a thorough study of the operation of typical community elderly care ecological chain and the needs of the elderly，the author finds out that community elderly care can barely meet the needs of the aged in medical service，entertainment，housing and dining. In this case，the elderly people’s needs cannot be sufficiently met while the care resources cannot be taken full advantage of，which results in the waste of resources and failed operation of the community care ecological chain. The shortcomings of current community elderly care are discovered and the operation of community elderly care ecological chain is optimized. The essay also suggests connecting the elderly with elderly care resources through organizations for the aged，which can not only provide good resources for the elderly，but also bring about better economic benefits for the elderly care providers. The priority in optimizing community elderly care ecological chain is to make fuller use of existing resources.
