Economic growth continues to disappoint and deficits in decent work remain widespread.First,global unemployment is expected to rise by 3.4 million in 2017.Second,vulnerable employment – at 1.4 billion worldwide – remains pervasive.Third,reductions in working poverty are slowing,endangering the prospects for eradicating poverty as set out in the Sustainable Development Goals.Finally,inequalities in opportunities and social discontent persist.Policy efforts must focus on how to overcome structural impediments to growth,including inequality.
