管理是一个复杂的、普遍的人类历程。在这个过程中,管理向外观察着环境,向内观察着内部秩序。它的基本功能在于寻求平衡和发展,在消除紧张状态的同时达到目的。这就是管理在人类历程中所发挥的价值。在管理的每个阶段,价值都在产生着影响,并且在人与组织之间、组织与环境之间总是存在一种紧张状态。霍奇金森便观察到了组织中的这种价值因素,并以此形成了他的管理哲学思想。本文主要从六个部分——管理与哲学的内在关联、管理的文化维度、管理的价值维度、组织弊病与组织现实、意识形态与组织结构的原始类型、领导的原始类型——来简要分析霍奇金森的管理哲学,希望能对学者起到抛砖引玉的作用。
<<Management is a complex,universal human process. In the process,outwardly management focuses on the environment and inwardly it focuses on the internal order. Its basic function is to seek a balance and development and to eliminate tensions while simultaneously achieving its goals. This is the value of management in the human process. The value has an impact during every stage of management,but there are always tensions between the organization and the environment and between humans and organizations. Christopher Hodgkinson observes the value factors in the organization to formulate his managerial philosophy. This article briefly analyzes the managerial philosophy of Hodgkinson from the following six perspectives:the internal connections between management and philosophy,the cultural dimension of management,the value dimension of management,organizational shortcomings and organizational reality,primitive types of ideology and the organizational structure,and primitive types of leadership.
