The pursuit of characteristics is the inevitable requirements for the reform and development of modern preschool education.According to the development of private preschool education and the actual situation of private kindergarten of Henan Province in recent years，the author analyzes the kindergarten characteristics，proposes his own views，summarizes the four principles that kindergarten must follow during its characteristics construction and expounds on how kindergarten should carry out its characteristics construction from the theoretical perspective.At the same time，this paper also proves the necessity of bringing the construction of kindergarten characteristics in line with the social demands from the perspectives of“studies of Chinese ancient civilization”，“Montessori mixed age education”and“science”.At the end，the author also introduces the localization and achievements of STEP Century，the representative Montessori education in Henan Province，and Zhengzhou High and New Science Kindergarten，a forerunner of science characteristics kindergarten in China，in its characteristics construction with a view to arousing the interest of more kindergartens in characteristics construction.
