On August 26，Yang Gailan，a farm woman aged 28 in Kangle county，Gansu province，slayed her four children before killing herself with agrochemicals. A few days later，her husband committed suicide too with agrochemicals. The tragedy drew great attention of the public after media report，and the public opinions gradually fade away after September 20. The press and netizens extensively discussed the problem of ill-implemented poverty alleviation policy reflected in this incident，articulated the difficult situation in rural subsistence allowance programme，and called for attention to the mental health of rural vulnerable groups.
