On November 23，Beijing Youth Daily and several other media reported the suspension of live fish sale in many a supermarket in Beijing. Since the causes were unclear，the rumour of “water contamination leading to suspension of live fish” went viral. Facing the public misgivings，Beijing Municipal Food and Drug Administration made an announcement on its official Weibo to deny the speculation that the suspension of live fish sale was due to water contamination. Later，there were reports，claiming the incident was related to the leaks of information concerning the special inspection campaign of the State Food and Drug Administration，with dealers trying to evade inspection. This suspicion pushed the public opinions to the apex on November 24. Once again，Beijing Municipal Food and Drug Administration deny the claim. With live fish returned to the supermarket after November 25，the public opinions cooled down eventually.
