The Construction of Characteristic town is a strategic choice to accelerate the development of regional innovation under the new economic norm，is an effective way to promote the supply side structural reform and new urbanization，and can maximize the advantages of amplification characteristic resources around the realization of development around the difference. Yanshi has the unique superiority in the characteristic town construction，but the problem is also obvious. This paper summarizes the experience of four kind of characteristic town construction from domestic and foreign，advise Yanshi should be from the scientific planning to guide the design and development of characteristic industry，to fully tap the town construction work to strengthen the characteristics of the five aspects of historical and cultural resources，innovation and institutional mechanisms，supporting policies and incentive mechanism specification.
