Marital closeness reaches a score of 7.03，with men rating higher （7.54） than women （6.75）. Three factors affect a couple’s relationship：affective communication，sexual loyalty and character traits. Five factors harm a couple’s relationship：apathy （56.4 per cent），suspicion （53.9 per cent），unfaithfulness （52.4 per cent），problematic sexual life （46.5 per cent） and family violence （43.1 per cent）. Men blame suspicion as the number one factor while apathy is on the top of women’s list. The traditional mentality of “men going out to work while women looking after the house” is still prevalent. But today’s women want to pursue self-independence and development.
