As a member state of the EU and NATO and a regional power of the Mediterranean and the Balkans，Greece has important geopolitical and security implications for the EU and the whole West. The malfunction of the operating system has prompted Greece to reject the EU reform plan，but only in form，because it cannot give up EU support altogether. For the EU，the Greek bailout is always a serious dilemma. The neo-liberal austerity route，which takes the upper hand in the crisis relief，has brought about more centrifugal forces to EU integration and is now facing unprecedented challenge with the deterioration of the crisis. Various forces are fully reflected in this political game，which shows that the unity basis and the principle of mutual respect within the EU are still weak even after the EU has undergone the process of integration for over a half century already. With the conclusion of the third round of bailout negotiations，Greece is temporarily out of the crisis of retreating from the EU；however，it remains uncertain if greece can eventually step out of the debt crisis，because realpolitik that serves short-term goals contributes little to the ultimate solution to the crisis.
