The average age of women interviewed is 24.8. Single women make up 51 percent, and junior middle school graduates make up 42.8 percent. 59.2 percent women have worked away from their rural home for 2 to 5 years. 45.3 percent women go out to work for the purpose of personal development. Among women migrant workers, 61 percent have signed labour contracts with employers and their monthly income averages 1968 yuan. 50.1 percent women consider a migrant worker as their professional identity while 54.3 percent women say migrant population is their social identity. 59.4 percent hope they can stay in the city while 11.2 percent women plan to return to their rural home. Among those married, 76.8 percent women have children. Moving the whole family into cities has become the trend. However their social adaptability is relatively weak. They hope the government will help migrant workers enjoy equal social insurance benefits, guarantee migrant workers' minimum wage, provide public housing and free skill training, and let their kids go to local schools. They hope enterprises will reduce overtime during holidays, pay them on time, arrange leaves for them to visit their families, and help migrant workers solve accommodation and kids' school problems.
