Along with the economic development, the immigration, and the advancement of policies and regulations, the United States gradually became the world’s first “education power” in the latter half of the twentieth century. Frank McCourt,in his book Teacher Man:A Memoir, combining his teaching experience, life experience, and understanding of American education policy, vividly reveals the problems of the educational policy of the US,such as uneven distribution of educational resources, inadequate fulfillment of educational opportunities for ethnic minorities, limited social status of teachers in schools, and difficulties in sustainable development of educational teachers. Meanwhile,as a teacher,McCourt profoundly thinks about what teacher morality is. Therefore, the author not only depicts the evolution of American education policies and individual life experiences from the perspective of “the outsider”,but also shows the educational philosophy and political logic behind the American educational system. This will help us to further understand the changes of American education system and its educational policy, and provide references for the reform and development of Chinese education system.
