There are about 60-70 golf courses in Beijing. With the total annual water consumption as large as 40 million cubic meters,these courses have increased the pressure upon the Beijing's water supply and water ecological safety. This paper,on the basis of field work,conducts an in-depth analysis of the relationship between the number of golf courses and the water consumption volume in Beijing,and discusses the serious impacts of ostentatious water consumption on the ecological safety of Beijing. Suggestions are also proposed to limit the development of gold courses while enhancing supervision according to the requirements of building conservation culture and water-saving society. <<
