Under the impact of globalization and the recent massive flow of immigrants that generated a “multi-ethnic” social terrain and undermined traditional barriers of a formerly homogeneous Greek society，women’s civil and political engagement exhibits in recent years a transnational orientation. In an effort to study women’s civil engagement in Greece at the dawn of the 21st century，this paper focuses its attention on their involvement in social movement organizations and networks with environmental pursuits，explores such organizations’ types，structure and new development trends impact on women’s roles and function promotion in organizations.
