The purpose of social economic development is to promote the overall development and continuous progress of human society. Yet since the Industrial Revolution，expansion of consumerism gradually erodes the substantial purpose of social economic development，leading to the quite changes of overall social values. The reckless pursuit of wealth and the expansion of consumerism flintily changes people’s value orientation and pursuit of ideal，which is detrimental to the environment people lives on，and leads to the acceleration of social polarization，as well as the sharp opposition of social classes. All of these impose grave threats to the overall development and continuous progress of human society. Consequently，we shall establish dialectic consumption concepts，combine the economical usage of resources with limited consumption，encourage a new concept of consumption，and promote the changes from ostentatious & extravagant consumption to simple & austere consumption. Challenges shall be made positively to those laws and institutions accommodating to those conspicuous consumption behaviors. Meanwhile，appropriate or low consumption shall be encouraged as a common social code of conduct.
