The economic structure of the Chinese society has been greatly transformed due to the thirty-years of reform. In the realm of production，alongside with the growth of private economy，capitalist mode of production gradually becomes the dominant form. There thus came a new working class，in which construction workers constitute a significant part. Concerning such a “class-in-itself”，we would like to explore how did this new working class understands itself and how could it transform itself from a “class-in-itself” into a “class-for-itself”. This article aims to illustrate how construction workers acquire their class experiences and dispositions in their working lives under the labor subcontracting system. Then，based on the socialist discourse regarding “class sympathy”，the authors make a comparison between class experiences acquired in two different periods.
