Food and drug safety is important for keeping healthy and maintaining good quality of life. Both the Party and government give high priority on food and drug safety，which becomes a national level policy agenda. The year of 2016 is the beginning year of the 13th Five-Year Plan，which is also the decisive stage for the establishment of a moderately prosperous society in all respects. In 2016，the Food Safety Law of the People’s Republic of China has been implemented for one year. The legal framework has been improved，the qualification rate of food sampling examination has been increased，and the criminal cases against violation of the Food Safety Law have been reduced. The medicine and medical device review and approval process has been accelerated，the consistency evaluation of generic drugs has been fully promoted，and government incentive toward medicine innovation has been fully launched. However，on the other hand，there still exist many problems regarding food and drug safety，people are far from satisfied with the food and drug safety and administration，and the task of insuring food and drug safety still has a long way to go.
