Since the successful inscription of the Historic Centre of Macao to UNESCO “World Heritage List” in 2005，preservation of Macao’s traditional culture has become a further concern by the general public. Historical heritage can include tangible and intangible resources，movable and immovable resources，cultural sites and natural landscapes. While Macao has been facing a rapid development in this decade，how to strike a balance between development and protection of traditional cultural has become a challenge. This article introduces the current situation of Macao’s historical heritage，exploring the policies and measurement adoption by the Macau government and community in preservation and inheritance，as well as the challenges currently faced with，and attempts to suggest and prospect the future development.
