Science popularization venue at the community level is an important place where the local public are kept informed about the information on science popularization. By observing the information about the survey results from various local communities，we can know that the aggregate number，quality，scale，and the management level of such venues are not able to meet the public’s demand for science popularization. There still remain some underlying factors （the low-level planning construction，low-efficiency management，the improper resource distribution，and the low-degree public participation） which impede the educational function of such venues. In the end，some proposals are presented for the sound development of such venues in the paper.
