Grassroots science popularization，an important part of science popularization work，plays an essential part in science popularization structure in China. The state as a whole have always been attaching great importance to such work，viewing it as an important instrument to enhance the well-being of the public by relying on science and technology. Great progress has been made in policy environment，institutional building，personnel network，facilities building and activities implementation in this regard for many years running. In a nutshell，the paper expounds on the connotation，research framework，the current development status and some proposed suggestions.
