In this study，effectiveness of current pig farming support policies implemented by the government was evaluated from the perspective of farmers based on survey data from Jiangsu，Anhui，Hunan，and Hubei provinces. The main factors affecting the policy implementation effectiveness evaluation were also analyzed. Results showed that pig farming support policies implemented by the government played an important role in resisting risks and motivating farmers. Despite the poor effectiveness of some policies，overall，pig farmers were “basically satisfied” with the pig farming support policies. The pig farming support policies，in ascending order of farmers’ effectiveness evaluation，were productive sow insurance subsidies，productive sow subsidies，subsidies for animal epidemic prevention，subsidies for improved pig breeds，and standardized large-scale farming. Moreover，the evaluation of policy effectiveness was significantly higher among male farmers than female farmers，and among medium-and large-scale farmers than small private farmers.
