The UK government has accelerated the decentralization process after the Scottish independence referendum which was held in September 2014. After the general elections in May 2015，decentralization has been set as one of the priorities on the agenda of the newly-elected Conservative government，who intends to continue to devolve powers to not only Scotland，but to the other parts of the UK. It is undoubtful that the decentralization alleviated the tensions between the devolved governments and the British central government，which will，however，exert significant influences on the state structures，political systems and even constitutionalism in the UK. However，it still remains to be seen whether the decentralization could stop the future attempt of Scotland to seek for independence once again and avoid the split of the state.
