Based on the practical experiences of running groups with women in Beijing，the authors introduce the application of empowerment model in women’s groups，explaining the designing and process of group with divorced women. They also discuss the indigenization of social work in China together with the indigenous experiences and western theory of indigenization of social work. It is argued that to integrate the western theory and Chinese contexts is the best way to indigenize social work in China. In the process，the social work educators will play the roles of educators，practitioners and researchers.
