With the social aging process，building an elderly livable urban and town environment became a kind of broad consensus. This article summarize and learn from the global elderly livable cities and towns on the theoretical results and practical experience，constructed a evaluation index system of urban environment suitable for old people，combining with the physiological and psychological characteristics of the old people and of the specific condition of our country. On this basis，the paper evaluated the problems in the process of building elder-friendly environment and recommends optimizations：The strategic plan should be innovated and prior；Differentiated elderly livable urban environment should be built according to different city and town scales；Pay attention to the quality of urban ecology，outdoor and indoor environment suitable for elders，as well as the aged-friendly public service system；Encourage government to promote and more social participation. <<
