Being an important historical period for the social transition of premodern Iran,Qajar dynasty witnessed the increasing interactions between Iran and Europe. The pattern of communication thereafter has been profoundly transformed. Against the background of that times,various Persian travel accounts such as diaries of students abroad,official reports of diplomats flourished and provided abundant social-cultural information about western societies. Through the examination of two Persian travelogues with the descriptions of their travels to Europe during the early Qajar period,this article aims to analyze the variation of perceptions towards European societies in Qajar period.
