Although we can say Korea was already an urban nation in terms of urban proportion in 1990s during its economic transitional period,Korea has gained a dynamic growth and a continued spatial concentration surrounding Metropolitan cities of urban population in this decade. Korea’s urbanization in this decade has been greatly affected by the new adoption of a consolidated city system,the rapid increase of service employment and the new town development based on an allocation of housing stock. Because of the similarities in history and culture between China and Korea,Korea’s urbanization which is not identical with that of western cities has more reference value to China which in the economic transitional period.
