Xiangyang city is located in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River tributary Hanjiang River，an important city in adjacent regions of Hubei，Henan，Chongqing，Shaanxi，as one of the Hubei Province region Deputy Center. In 2015，“urban agglomeration development plan in the middle reaches of Yangtze river” is approved and becomes the first cross regional urban agglomeration planning，including Xiangyang. Xiangyang into Changjiang Middle Reaches Megalopolis，is to build the central city of the Han River basin，drive dynamic regional development and becomes the node city of Changjiang Middle Reaches Megalopolis. This paper focuses on how to build the central city of the Han River Basin in Xiangyang，summarizes the historical status and realistic basis，the development opportunities and adjustment，the development vision and promotion measures，etc，and provides theoretical support and practical measures for the construction of the central city of the Han River basin and integrating into Changjiang Middle Reaches Megalopolis
