This Literature Review makes a conclusion of 84 academic articles studying four well-known gender issues，which triggered heated discussions in the year of 2013 to 2014. They are：study on Sino-US “first-lady” diplomacy，disappearance of female students in the summer of 2014，crackdown on sex trade in Dongguan and the rape case of Li Tianyi，a rich 2nd generation. After finding 84 academic essays studying on these issues，this essay makes a summary on the previous ideas—there are very few academic articles analysing the four topics from a perspective of news and communication；gender stereotypes still exist in these essays；women’s rights are ignored；the media pay more attention to the conflicts between different social classes than to the conflicts of different genders；women’s images portrayal in media are misleadingly made use of. To conclude，this Literature Review calls for more attentions paid to gender issues by scholars who study news and communication. <<
